Virginia Governor McAuliffe Signs Executive Directive to Strengthen Cybersecurity Protocol (Executive Directive 6), August 31, 2015

A tall order with a sense of urgency, Executive Directive 6 was issued by Governor McAuliffe to strengthen the Commonwealth’s cybersecurity measures in order to protect personal information and sensitive data through the expansion of cyber-related risk management activities.  more

The 2013 Governor’s Technology Awards were presented at COVITS (Commonwealth of Virginia IT Symposium) on September 9, 2013.

In the category “IT as Efficiency Driver – Government to Government” the winner was the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles for the Elevated Review Workflow project. The Impact Makers project team leveraged Kanban to enable DMV to achieve the efficiencies that the award recognized. more

Governing, a leading online and print publication for state and local governments, featured an article on the use of Kanban by two of Impact Makers’ clients: the Virginia Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).  The columnist interviewed the IT directors for each agency, Rick Davis with DOC and Dave Burhop with DMV, to learn how project work flow and visibility had improved via Kanban. Impact Makers worked with both agencies to kick-off the use of Kanban and facilitate training for employees. more

Impact Makers’ Doug Couvillion spoke at PMI Central Virginia Chapter – Government Local Interest Group Meeting. Doug is Impact Makers’ Director, Project Delivery and presented “Kanban – Applying Lean Management in Government.” The presentation included how to apply lean management principles to projects, an introduction to Kanban, and examples of state government successfully implementing Kanban solutions to manage teams and processes. more

Andy Savage participated in the Kanban panel at the recently completed Commonwealth of Virginia Information Technology Symposium (COVITS), held Sept. 6-7 in Richmond, Virginia.  Andy provided an overview of Kanban workflow and visibility concepts to a standing room only crowd of state, local, and higher education technology leaders from across Virginia.  Impact Makers’ clients from the Department of Corrections and Department of Motor Vehicles presented case studies from their Kanban related projects at their respective agencies.   more

At the event, Impact Maker’s client the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) received the Technology Innovation Developer Award. DHCD’s win represents the first time a state agency has won a RichTech award. more
